About Our Founder

Griffith E. Harris, Sr. founded Harris Insurance in 1946. Having started his working career in Cos Cob as a delivery boy for White's Drug Store, he was thrilled to open his first office on Strickland Road. As the business grew, Griff moved the agency to its present location in 1955.

The success of Harris Insurance can be attributed to the principle of integrity and Griff's dedication to the community. This dedication led him to public service and it was as a three term First Selectman that Griff was able to give back to the town he loved so dearly.  In addition, Griff remained active in the community and the state his entire life.
 

The Agency Today

Griff Harris, Jr. took over the agency after his father's death in 1998. He continues to provide exceptional personal service with integrity, which is the foundation of our success. In an age where costumers can purchase goods and services in many ways, the agency is committed to providing specialized advice and personal assistance. Griff's door is always open.

 

Giving Back

Griff, Jr. was born and raised and still lives in Greenwich and continues on the tradition started by his father of being charitable and philanthropic in our community.  We are involved in and donate to many charities such as The Red Cross, Meals on Wheels, Breast Cancer Alliance, United Way, Lion's Club, Old Timers Athletic Association, and local sports programs -- just to name a few.
